Shockwave Therapy was developed with Acoustic Wave research. Both use the same technology with different sound frequencies. It was developed by Storz Medical who are market leaders in the medical technology field. They manufacture equipment used in hospitals to break up kidney stones.
From this technology Storz developed machines which provided excellent results for calcifications and soft tissue pain. These are Shockwave Therapy machines, which are used for treating shoulder pain, tennis and golfers elbow, patellar tendonitis (jumpers knee), shin splints, tendon pain, heel spurs and plantar fasciitis, chronic neck, shoulder and back pain and painful muscle nodules.
Whilst treating athletes for these injuries it was found that there was a remarkable improvement in the appearance of stretch marks, cellulite and scar tissue.
Shockwave Therapy is a pain free and gentle therapy. It is a modern and highly effective treatment method. After 2-3 sessions over 80% of patients report a significant pain reduction. The term shockwave refers to mechanical pressure pulses that expand as a wave. They are audible high energy soundwaves.
Shockwave therapy reduces and relieves pain and improves mobility in affected joints, tendons, muscles and bone.
